Liam McNassar

I originally (earlier today) set this blog up as an account of my travels, and already I'm deviating from that plan. Honestly, this is just too important. I just received an email from a friend of mine telling me about little Liam McNassar. His story was featured today by a local news station.

Liam is the 3 year-old son of Brendan and Lisette McNassar, friends from college. Liam is also suffering from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was diagnosed last May and has been receiving chemotherapy ever since. Here are some photos of Liam and his family, and here's a link to their blog. Liam's hope for a cure lies in a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, no one in Liam's family is a match and a search of the 11 million potential donors on the bone marrow donor registry has come up empty handed.

Liam's family has gone public hoping people will sign up to be donors and that one of these people will be a cure for their son. I'm already on the donor list and have been for years. Please consider joining, too. (Signing up just requires a cheek swab. It's so super easy and completely painless.) For more information, go to the National Bone Marrow Registry. Or, if you're in the Pacific NW, you can directly contact the Puget Sound Blood Center.

Please join me in praying for Liam, his parents Brendan and Lisette, and his little sister, Sophia. May God bless and comfort them by holding them in His loving arms. Pray, too, for a donor match and cure for little Liam.
